How to Replace Hoverboard Gyroscope Sensors

If the smart balance wheel on your hoverboard is not moving, you will need a new gyroscope to fix this. It´s better to buy the original one on the official site of the manufacturer.

We´ll show you how to replace hoverboard gyroscope sensors in 5 easy steps. You will need only a head screwdriver (or a power drill).

Step 1

Place your hoverboard upside down. Unscrew all of the screws underneath the side that does not have the hoverboard charging port (there are normally 9 screws). Take the case off. You will need to unclip the wires from the bottom plastic shell piece from the circuit boards and set the shell aside.

The screws nearest to the wheels may be hard to access. Be sure to use a long, thin screwdriver.

Step 2

Inside you will see the battery. It will have a yellow clip at the end of it that connects through the center of the hoverboard into a wire that goes to the motherboard.

Unplug the battery.

Step 3

Now you have to unplug all of the clips from the gyroscope sensor itself. There are usually 3 clips in total, but if your hoverboard has extra features such as fancy LED lights, then there may be additional clips to detach.

Unscrew the 4 screws from on top of the gyro balance sensor and remove it. It´s better to compare the old one with the one you´ve bought, they should be similar. Make sure you have the correct one.

Step 4

If your clips are the same you should place your gyroscope into the empty slot.

It´s extremely important to install your gyroscope sensor in the correct direction! The single white clip or set of wires that come off of the gyro sensor board should be facing inward, while the set of multiple white sockets should be on the outer edge. Watch the video below.

Step 5

The final step is to put everything back together. Screw all 4 small screws back into the gyroscope, reconnect all of the clips and wires, plug your battery back in, and then put your plastic shell back on and screw it in too.

If you still have issues with your hoverboard it can be another reason.
